Moonshine Tasting Party- Music, Film and Moonshine!

Two Ways To Participate!

Live- Sunday, October 25 4PM

Video Replay-Thursday, October 29 7:30 PM

The Center has begun work on a new film that re-looks at moonshiners and the blockading industry in a totally new light – from the diversity of the players, the creative ways mountaineers found to survive, and some of the heroic characters involved.  Help us make this new film by joining us for a moonshine tasting party featuring locally handcrafted moonshine from Howling Moon Moonshine and South Mountain Distillery produced by a fifth generation moonshiners, great live bluegrass music performed by the Apple Country String Band and the screening of THEY WHO OVERCAME, Stories of Hope and Resilience, the Center’s new short film on the resilient life of our elders.  The event will be held at the Flat Rock Cinema.  Cody Bradford of Howling Moon Distillery will be there to tell some of the history.   Tasty treats will be available.  A donation of $25 or more gets you into the fun! Donors of $50 or more will receive a moonshine memento, donors of $200 or more will receive a tour of a moonshine distillery!  Tickets are extremely limited given the need for social distancing, SIGN UP TODAY!   Social distancing will be enforced and the area will be clean and protected for all participants.

If you’d rather not attend a live event just yet, no problem!  You can still support the new film and enjoy the party and be there “in spirit.”  Just let us know when you sign up which option you choose.

HEALTH ADVISORY

The Center for Cultural Preservation is committed to maintaining the health and safety of its audience members, participants, staff and volunteers.  The Center will do whatever it can, under its control to administrate an enjoyable and safe environment for all attendees.  Given the current concerns about the coronavirus, we recommend all participants take notice of the following precautions:

  • Stay home if you feel ill, especially if you are experiencing a fever, cough and/or shortness of breath.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Given that the people may be symptom-free but contagious at the same time, it is everyone’s responsibility to self-quarantine themselves if they have been exposed to persons who are showing symptoms.  Towards this end, the Center reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone who is showing symptoms that could endanger other audience members.

Thanks again in advance for helping us run an entertaining and safe event!
