Our world is changing fast and its difficult or impossible to understand all of the forces that are affecting our economy, our health, our politics and more. Yet there is nothing new under the sun. In many ways, history is a series of repeating events that we can choose to learn from or suffer from ignorance. Our nearest ancestors knew the importance of learning from history particularly on issues concerning growing ones food and developing a level of self-reliance to overcome any challenges that came their way whether it be drought or floods, bounties or famines, pandemics or health.
This short film will hopefully be the first in a series of vignettes based on oral histories held with elders throughout the Southern Appalachians to help us better understand our recent history and how we can better cope with today’s challenges to build tomorrow’s reslience. Join us for a fascinating film and discussion afterwards.
The cost is a donation of your choosing: $5 for individuals, $10 for households of 2-3 people and an additional donation of whatever amount you choose.
All sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable. Ticketholders will receive a link to access this online event the day before the event.
