00:00:02 - Lexi introduces Marjory's Garden and shares its origins.

Play segment

Partial Transcript: Marjory's Garden, it first came about when Mr. Jeter proposed the idea after seeing this plot of land. He proposed it to our principal. And we were able to get this land for the science classes so we can all build on it. And eventually all sorts of different, I guess, subjects came together, like STEM classes, culinary, everyone came together just to build this project. That was just how it really started with a group of students including myself and ever since then we've just been continually building on it; it was originally just four box gardens and a solar panel - that was it.

00:00:48 - Lexi explains when it started.

Play segment

Partial Transcript: It started I believe two and a half years ago, almost three years ago

00:01:22 - Lexi describes what the garden means to her personally.

Play segment

Partial Transcript: Personally, Marjorie’s Garden is a huge accomplishment for me because I have worked so hard on it for the last couple of years. Just knowing that I have done so much to build upon this garden and that other people can come and benefit from it, really makes me feel good. I love just being able to come out here and spend time with nature because we live in a concrete world nowadays, so there's not a lot of places to do that. And so, it's just fun for me, you know, and I love reconnecting with nature.

00:02:08 - Lexi describes the best time to visit the garden.

Play segment

Partial Transcript: Well, we're allowed to come out with our classes, so I think that's beneficial if our teachers let us come out. Or we can come out in the mornings and sometimes at lunch. So I think those are probably the best times just because it's calmer, not as many people out here. So that's beneficial to a lot of people.

00:02:31 - Lexi shares her passion for the garden.

Partial Transcript: I love this place,
you know, it's my home, so I live here.
Interviewer - Is this your favorite part of the school?
Lexi Smith

Definitely, yeah. This is my favorite part of coming to school. Yeah, it has been, it's been probably one of the biggest things in my life for the last three years.
