Partial Transcript: The meaning, in my opinion, would be on the aspect of perseverance, going through challenges that are tough and a lot of the times that people won't be with you and it's kind of difficult to get things done, but with courage and perseverance, you can kind of get things done that you think is right, especially for the environment.

Partial Transcript: She was a fighter in my view. People who talked about her a lot explain how much she tried and how much she fought for what she believed in and so I just thought of her as some real good fighting force for the Everglades.

Partial Transcript: Well obviously, our school has gone through some challenges in the past and it’s all about similar attributes that Marjory Stoneman Douglas had herself - passion, courage, perseverance like I said earlier. It’s really making the most what you’ve got. And speaking of how she wasn't scientifically necessarily qualified in a lot of things, but you really don't need any qualifications to notice bad things that are happening around you. I think those can kind of relate to our school. You really don't need any degree in political fields or stuff like that to kind of think about what's going on and what's wrong and what's right.

Partial Transcript: It's definitely a feeling of importance. It gives you more of a sense of purpose of what you're doing. You think of what happened in the past and what movements we've been making, especially from her. And so, you're right. It's like trying to take her torch and kind of trying to carry it on into what she would like to do and what she would like to happen for the ecosystem, stuff like that.

Partial Transcript: My generation, I would like us to share similar fields of what she is going to, especially in the Everglades but it also could be other things that could relate more to ocean aquatics. And things like that. Basically, going to Capitol Hill and trying to get laws passed different regulations that would also get passed and make more logical sense of what is going on in Florida.

Partial Transcript: Final thoughts of becoming the Marjory of my generation – definitely, it is a good feeling because she was such a hero in a lot of our minds, especially my peers, in general, with the garden at our school; we definitely loved what she did, and it is a definitely a good feeling to be aiming for certain things she was aiming for.
